The Summit

As 2009 is coming to a close, how do we wrap up the year? I would not doubt it was a difficult year for many people. Our hearts go out to those who are suffering with medical conditions, those who are in different kinds of bondages, and the many suffering from economic situations. The wonderful thing is that God’s promise never fails God’s people. The promise of God fulfilled in Jesus Christ who is the foretaste of the Kingdom, surrounds us with peace, joy, hope, and love. God is in control.

The Apostle Paul also reminds us in Romans 12:2,“Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” This last year has been marked by change and new beginnings. This will continue into 2010. While being grasped in the promise of God, we have no fear to face what lies ahead of us. Our minds are renewed, as we stay focused on God and seek God’s guidance for any new endeavors. Alpine’s ministries will produce new beginnings which bless many.

Counting God’s blessings is a good way to see how God has carried you through the year, and also gives you a promising start for the beginning of the New Year.

The Ministry Schedule for the next several months is ready. The schedules for those who serve Jan. 10th will be mailed out. In an effort to save postage, the rest of the schedules will be available for pick-up on the counter in the narthex.

In an attempt to become more “green” this year, we would like to start utilizing email addresses to send out schedules and notices to “Those Who Serve”. Please make sure to turn in your email address to the office so we can continue to compile a database.

All men, young and old, of Alpine are invited to come to a men’s breakfast and fellowship Sat., Jan. 16th in Fellowship Hall from 7 – 8:30 a.m. Look for a sign-up in the coatroom. Don Erickson, Principal of Alpine Academy of Rockford, will be featured speaker. A special invitation and welcome has been extended to the men of those children attending the academy. Contact Dave Nelsen with any questions.

If you had a fresh tree for Christmas, you can recycle it not only through your city’s tree recycle program but also around your home. You can cut the branches off and lay them over perennials to help control temperature fluctuations and guard against winter weather. You can also chop the tree into firewood or chips to keep your house warm. A standard sized tree can be turned into 13 pounds of firewood.
