Crossroads – Youth Newsletter

by Alpine Summit ·

Crossroads

I would like to introduce myself. I am LeAnn Peterson. I have been married to Eric for 13 years (This month). We have three wonderful children, Anna (almost 11 yrs old), Gunnar (9 yrs old), and Emmalee (7 yrs old). I was born and raised in Rockford. I have always attended Lutheran churches (Our saviors until I was in 6th Grade, First Lutheran until Jan 2006 & Alpine since March 2006. I worked full-time for three lung doctors & I am a certified professional coder (A fancy title for insurance clerk). So, along with working full-time, and raising a family, I will be enjoying working with the youth of this church. Even though I am busy I am always here for the youth and their families. Below are my numbers and email that you can reach me at.

I have always been a person who has believed in God. I don’t know of a day that I didn’t but I have had my times that my walk has gotten stronger and more personal with Christ.

I was a youth director for our old church for a time, I have taught Sunday school for a total of 26 years, done children sermon for a total of 20 years. I have helped and been in charge of vacation bible school for many years. I have just started my third year of church council here at Alpine (with a total of 9 years). I come with wanting youth to know how much they are loved and how special they are to Jesus and to us at Alpine.

If you want to know more, please join me on Thursday, April 8th at 6:30pm at church. Please bring your questions and ideas of what you want to see the youth doing and hear what I have planned.

Crossroads

As you can see the Title of the youth newsletter is called “crossroads”. This comes from Jeremiah 6:16…(This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look;…ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your soul.”)

When we come to crossroads in our life we need to ask which way is the right way (God’s way) and follow it and if we do, our soul will be at rest. If we go the path of the world (against God) we will not have rest in our lives, or our souls.

Issue 13: Holy Week Schedule: Plan to Worship

by Alpine Summit ·

Far and away the most sacred week of the year to Christians is the one that precedes Easter. Called Holy Week, it commemorates the final week in the earthly life of Jesus, culminating with his resurrection from the dead. For centuries the Christian Church has given believers the opportunity to journey with Jesus through worship, as we pause along the way to remember the most significant events. It behooves us to participate with our fellow Christians in the Holy Week journey.

Palm Sunday, March 28, choir cantata, “The Lenten Sketches”

We’ll gather in the narthex for both the 8:00 & 10:30 services to receive our palms. The choir will give the passion message in song.

 Maundy Thursday, April 1, 11 AM & 7 PM.

Holy Communion at both services, but at the evening service it will take place in the “Upper Room” around the cross.

Good Friday, April 2, 7:00 PM

In this “Tenebrae” (gradual darkening) service, the Seven Last Sayings of Jesus from the Cross will be reflected upon as the cross is raised.

Easter Sunday, April 4, 8:00 and 10:00 AM – Christ is risen, Alleluia!
