Our Sunday School program this Sunday, December 13, will be a little more lively than usual, as we will have living animals joining us outside for our children’s Christmas program. Thanks to the Osborne family, who own donkeys, and who have contacts to bring in some other barn animals, and also to our property committee for assistance in preparing a “stable,” our program will begin outside about 9:15, then finish in the sanctuary between services. If you attend first service, please stay for the kids’ program; and if you attend second service, please come early to show your support for their efforts.
Advent is certainly one of the most specials seasons in the church year. The many events and activities during December help us to prepare for the coming of the Christ child. Hopefully you are using your devotional booklet, “A Grand Miracle,” daily. (We still have many extras at church.) And, as you know, there are abundant services and activities to participate in during the Advent season.
Again this Sunday we meet John the Baptist in our gospel lesson. In spite of his strong rhetoric and judgmental tone, his message to share our goods with others is taken to heart during Advent probably more than at any other time.
I imagine that all of us are involved in some charitable effort(s) as we lead up to Christmas and engage in the spirit of the season. That’s what God would want of us: to hear His call to recognize how we can share our blessings with others.
We’re collecting cans of vegetables and making Thanksgiving cards for the Thanksgiving baskets to be distributed to families in our community.
Come and see our big Thanksgiving Tree that we are decorating with all our blessings from God.
Thanks be to God!
