The Summit

The Social Ministry Committee will be serving at Emmanuel Soup Kitchen on Sun., Mar. 21st at 11:30 a.m. They are in need of cookie donations to serve to the clientele. Please notify John Linde if you can donate or would like to help serve.

Christmas Food Baskets will again be distributed for delivery to those in need on Dec. 19th from 10 to 12 noon in the gym. Please use either the north or the west entrance. They also may be picked up at church on Sun., Dec. 20th between services. Those who delivered baskets for Thanksgiving are asked to deliver to the same recipient again.
The Social Ministry committee would also welcome donations of cookies or bread to but in each basket. They may be brought to the church on Dec. 13th or to the gym prior to 9 a.m. on Dec. 19th. We thank everyone for their help in this project. Any questions, call Janet Gentry.

On Thursday November 12, Alpine members will be serving lunch to Carpenter’s Place clients from 11:45AM to 1:15PM. If you would like to help serve call Janet Gentry

The Social Ministry Committee is again arranging the distribution of 25 holiday food baskets to be given to needy families prior to both Thanksgiving and Christmas. It would really be appreciated for Alpine members to volunteer to commit to deliver one or more baskets to the same family for both holidays, if possible. A sign up sheet will be in the coat room beginning November 8th; names of recipients will be available also. Baskets will be available to be picked up on November 21st between 10:00AM and 12:00 Noon in the Alpine Academy gymnasium. Please enter through the west door. They can also be picked up between services on Sunday Nov. 22 in the south entrance way. They need to be delivered November 21 or 22nd. It is preferable to pick them up on Saturday. Pickup place for Christmas baskets will be announced.

The 2009 Carpenter’s Place Walk for the Homeless will be Sat. Oct. 10 at The Christian Life Schools 1/4 mile track; Mulford at Spring Creek Road, Rockford.

Walker registration begins at 9:00AM ; the walk starts at 10:AM.

The Social Ministry Committee invites you to join them in supporting this organization which does an exemplary job in helping the homeless rebuild their lives.

You may sign up in the narthex to be a walker and/or be a sponsor. Please give donations (any amount) in the narthex, take a small envelope and mail it or give to a walker by October 4, please specify which walker you wish to sponsor. You may walk any distance, anytime between 10:00AM and 1:00PM.
