Vacation Bible School
Alpine kids, grandkids, neighbors and friends are invited to join us for Vacation Bible School next month. We are offering two options, and students are welcome to attend either or both.
Alpine is hosting “Breaker Rock Beach” in the gym Tuesday, June 25th through Thursday, June 27th from 9-11:30 a.m. Kids ages 3 through entering 5th grade can participate, and those entering 6th-8th grade can serve as helpers. To register, please call Barb Milton, 815-298-0046 or the church office, 815-599-5013.
Alpine is also partnering with St. Mark Lutheran Church and Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church for “Camp Firelight” at St. Mark. The dates are Monday, June 17th through Friday, June 21st, from 9 a.m.-noon. Students entering grades K-6 can participate. Adult and high school volunteers are also welcome to help, especially in the areas of music and crafts. More details and registration are at www.stmarklc.com.
There is no cost to attend either Vacation Bible School.
I have happy memories of attending VBS as a child, and even better (and more reliable) memories of the fun our own kids had participating. This is a great way to give young people a positive experience of Christian community that is geared toward their own ages. When Jesus was admonished by his disciples for taking time for children, he said, “Let the little children come to me, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” (Matthew 19)
Let’s make that happen for the kids in our care.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Don Wink
